The outbreak affecting JDT is caused by a microorganism known as the Influenza virus.
The virus had spread quickly from one player to another. In less than a week, the illness was classified as an outbreak.

Here are some facts about Influenza that you should know.
1. The Influenza virus can be categorised into Influenza A, B, C and D. Influenza A and B often affect humans, while C and D affect animals.

2. Influenza A & B undergo constant mutations, making elimination difficult and both Influenza viruses can lead to death especially among children and elders. It is the same for people with chronic illnesses such as asthma, heart failure and kidney diseases.

3. The symptoms of being affected by Influenza include prolonged fever, flu, cough, sore throat, headache and feeling weak.

4. If not correctly treated, the Influenza virus can lead to pneumonia, sinusitis and acute bronchitis. Patients with symptoms of the virus must be admitted at the hospital for close monitoring.

5. To avoid the spreading of the virus, patients must be isolated, consume medication recommended by doctors and have proper etiquette when sneezing or coughing.
6. Getting Influenza vaccines is a good step to avoid the spreading of the virus.
