Aidilfitri bagi seorang Raja pemerintah sebuah negeri yang berdaulat sudah tentu tidak sempurna tanpa rakyat. DYMM Sultan Johor dan pewaris takhta, DYAM Tunku Mahkota Johor meletakkan rakyat Johor dalam suatu sudut istimewa dalam pemikiran dan jiwa baginda seharian.
Memegang salah satu nasihat yang halus bahasanya dari Sultan Iskandar iaitu ‘meletakkan diri lebih rendah dari rumput’, telah menyaksikan acapkali protokol Istana dilonggarkan sendiri oleh baginda agar mudah didekati rakyat.
Nasihat tersebut turut dijadikan panduan oleh pewaris-pewaris takhta Kesultanan Johor berikutnya. Kerabat Diraja Johor gemar bertegur sapa dan bertanya khabar dengan rakyat serta memberi peluang kepada rakyat berinteraksi dengan raja mereka seperti yang dilakukan oleh Sultan Johor terdahulu.
Pada bulan Ramadan khususnya, rakyat Johor amat bertuah dengan keberangkatan DYMM Sultan Johor dan DYAM Tunku Mahkota ke bazar, berbuka puasa dan bersolat bersama rakyat. Malah, kehadiran Syawal sering dinantikan oleh seluruh rakyat Johor untuk bersama-sama solat sunat Aidilfitri dengan baginda. Allah Peliharakan Sultan.

Aidilfitri for a ruler of a sovereign state is not complete without its people. HM Sultan of Johor and HRH Crown Prince of Johor have always put the Johor people in a special corner of the heart and on the mind.
Following a piece of advice from Sultan Iskandar, which is to 'put yourself lower than grass', palace protocols are often loosened by His Majesty so that it is easier to get closer to the people.
The advice has also been followed by subsequent Johor heirs. The Johor Royal Family has often greeted and mingled with the people and given them chances to interact with their ruler as practised by previous Johor Sultans.
During the month of Ramadan especially, the Johor people are very fortunate to see HM Sultan of Johor and HRH Crown Prince of Johor at bazaars, breaking of fast events and prayers with the people. In fact, the month of Syawal is often awaited by all the Johoreans to perform the Aidilfitri prayers with His Majesty. Allah Peliharakan Sultan.
