The effects include changes to muscles (muscle wasting), body weight, fat content in blood, sugar levels and blood pressure.

For example, unused muscles for more than two weeks due to holidays can cause the size to shrink. To avoid this, here are 5 tips to follow during the Aidilfitri celebrations.

1. CHOOSE THE RIGHT FOOD
Consume food with less oil. Do not take sugary drinks such as carbohydrate drinks or boxed drinks with high sugar contents. Avoid salty food.

2. EAT FOOD IN SMALL QUANTITIES
It is a custom to visit several houses in a day. Eat food in small portions because by doing so, it will make you feel full throughout the day.

3. DRINK ENOUGH WATER
Drink enough water to avoid dehydration especially during hot weather. Toxic elements in the body can be eliminated through urine. Drink between 1 and 1.5 litre of water every day.

4. INCREASE BODY MOVEMENT
Move more such as taking additional steps before reaching a designated house. This simple activity can help burn calories.

5. GET ENOUGH REST
Make sure you get enough rest. Try stretching or taking a short nap if you feel sleepy.
