Fresh from an eyebrow-raising AFC Champions League debut campaign where the Southern Tigers showed their competitiveness against the best Asian teams, local news agency Malay Mail highlighted a story of a Japanese couple that became JDT fans several years ago.

According to the Malay Mail article, a JDT fan took to Twitter to share the story of Yasu and his wife Maki from Osaka, who are hardcore members of the ‘Ancient Squad’, supporters of Division 4 football team, Nara club.

“They watched their first game involving Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) two years ago for the AFC Champions League (ACL) play-off between Gamba Osaka and JDT in early 2017,” shared a Twitter user by the handle

The couple later that year travelled to Johor to witness the Malaysia Super League title presentation. Yasu and Maki also caught JDT in action in the 2019 AFC Champions League.
