FAKTA MENARIK | SEJARAH NEGERI JOHOR | PERLEMBAGAAN SEBUAH KERAJAAN BERDAULAT PERTAMA DI ASIA - BAHAGIAN TIGA
Kebijaksaan Kesultanan Johor Moden mengambil iktibar dari kelemahan kerajaan Melayu lama dengan merangka sebuah perlembagaan telah menjadi benteng kepada kedaulatan negeri Johor hari ini.
Negara lain di Asia pada masa itu masih bergolak dan tidak mempunyai perlembagaannya sendiri, sekaligus meletakkan Johor sebagai negeri Melayu pertama di Asia memodenisasikan pemerintahannya dengan berperlembagaan lengkap bertulis.
Signifikan dari ilham ini telah menidakkan pertumpahan darah, peperangan dan perpecahan dari perebutan kuasa berlaku dalam negeri Johor yang membolehkan Kerajaan Johor terlupus dari peta dunia.
Hasil dari kebijaksanaan Sultan Sir Abu Bakar, kerajaan British semakin buntu dalam meluaskan pengaruhnya di negeri Johor dan mengakui Kerajaan Johor berkemampuan dalam pentadbirannya sendiri. Kedudukan Sultan melebihi wakil pentadbiran Queen Britain serta diiktiraf oleh pemerintah tertinggi kuasa besar dunia tersebut.
Sultan Sir Ibrahim melihat kejayaan ayahandanya menyatukan semua kaum yang berhijrah ke Johor sebagai suatu perkara yang harus diperkukuhkan. Perpaduan di negeri Johor ketika itu amat unik dan tidak terdapat di negeri lain. Maka dengan itu baginda mahu istilah Bangsa Johor menjadi nadi penyatuan tidak kira kaum di Johor sejak 1920an lagi.
Kaum-kaum lain bebas untuk meneruskan agama dan kepercayaan seperti termaktub dalam Undang-Undang Tubuh Johor. Rakyat Johor terdiri dari berbilang kaum serta mempunyai kepercayaan agama masing-masing namun baginda mahu kesemuanya bersatu menzahirkan kesetiaan dibawah satu slogan keramat ‘Bangsa Johor’.
Semangat ini diteruskan dan diperkasakan oleh DYMM Sultan Ibrahim, Sultan Johor dan pewaris takhta DYAM Mejar Jeneral Tunku Ismail, Tunku Mahkota Johor sehingga kini. Allah Peliharakan Sultan.

The wisdom of the Modern Johor Sultanate in learning from past Malay governments' weaknesses by enacting a constitution has become the foundation of Johor's sovereignty today.
Other countries in Asia at that time were in turbulence and didn't have its own constitutions, making Johor the first Malay state in Asia to modernise its reign by having a complete written constitution.
The significance of this action has prevented bloodshed, wars and split caused by power struggle from happening in Johor, which could've caused the Johor government to disappear from the world.
As a result of Sultan Sir Abu Bakar's wisdom, the British government struggled to impose its influence on Johor and had to concede that the Johor government was capable of self-governance. The Sultan's position was above representatives of the British Queen's administration and recognised by the highest rulers of the world power.
Sultan Sir Ibrahim saw the success of uniting all races that migrated to Johor as something that should be strengthened. The unity in Johor at that time was very unique and could not be found in other states. Hence, His Majesty wanted the Bangsa Johor term to be the unifying rally in Johor regardless of races since 1920s.
Other races were free to practise their religions and beliefs as stated in the Johor State Constitution. The Johor people were from different races and religions but His Majesty wanted all to unite in pledging their loyalty under the Bangsa Johor slogan.
The spirit has been carried on and strengthened by HM Sultan Ibrahim, Sultan of Johor, and heir HRH Major General Tunku Ismail, Crown Prince of Johor, until today. Allah Peliharakan Sultan.
