The revolution of Johor Darul Ta'zim FC (JDT) led by Modern Johor Sultanate heir HRH Major General Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Crown Prince of Johor, in the football world has also escalated Johor's name to the global stage.

It is a heritage and continuity of the vision of the Modern Johor Sultanate which sparked the Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim's rule and further strengthened by Sultan Sir Abu Bakar, which saw Johor become well known in various aspects around the world.

Sultan Sir Abu Bakar's intention was to protect Johor's sovereignty and ensure it became well known at the international level.

Queen Victoria and Prince Albert Edward were among key world leaders to welcome Sultan Sir Abu Bakar, the first Malay state ruler with the distinction. His Majesty was given the honour in a special invitation by the Queen on 22 March 1866.

Johor's position was further strengthened after the opening of the Johor Advisory Council in London, making Johor the only Malay state to have an advantage of having direct contacts with world powers.

Trips made under the Johor government's name by Sultan Sir Abu Bakar to countries such as Italy, Switzerland, France, Egypt, Greece, Turkey, Hawaii, Prussia, China, Japan and many more to foster two-way relations between governments and introduce Johor on the global stage.
