JDT can be said to be a place where it is the survival of the fittest. Club owner HRH Major General Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Crown Prince of Johor, and the coaches demand players to have plenty of heart.

Take Safawi Rasid for example . The youngster was used sparingly in his first season (2017) before cementing a place in the starting line-up and being the club's top goal scorer in 2018, where he was also named Malaysia's Most Valuable Player.

It is the same for youngsters joining the Southern Tigers, be it through promotion from JDT II or a new signing. For them, showing plenty of fight will get them noticed by JDT's top hierarchy. Patience is a virtue for these players.

Adam Nor Azlin, Syafiq Ahmad and Syamer Kutty Abba are other examples for 2019 while in previous years there were Afiq Fazail, Azrif Nasrulhaq and Nazmi Faiz Mansor.

At present Akhyar Rashid, Haziq Nadzli, Dominic Tan and Hasbullah Abu Bakar are players earmarked to make a similar progression and are being groomed into being the next generation of JDT players.
