Travelling abroad for football matches can more or less affect the performance of footballers. They can suffer from fatigue and confusion due to long travel. [1/9]

The fatigue is due to the change within themselves when going through different time zones. A player can experience changes such as high body temperature, poor appetite, poor digestion, unstable blood pressure, headache, mixed emotions, balance disorder and dehydration.
[2/9]

To tackle these problems, here are four steps taken by football teams when playing matches overseas.
[3/9]

1. Know The Time Zone
Before traveling to another country for football matches, the team management should know the country's time zone. The team should be there a few days early to acclimate themselves and avoid fatigue due to long travel.
[4/9]

2. Change The Meal Plan As Soon As Touching Down
The team should change their meal plan accordingly to the destination's time zone.
[5/9]

For example, breakfast should be taken by all players even though it is nighttime in Malaysia. An unchanged meal plan can cause fatigue before a match.
[6/9]

3. Conduct Training The Morning After
Training should be conducted in the following morning. The sunlight received during training can provide signals to the body to get used to the new time zone.
[7/9]

4. Get Enough Sleep
If it is night time in Malaysia but daytime overseas, do light exercises. Do not sleep during daytime because it will affect the acclimatisation process at the new place.
[8/9]

Besides that, by not sleeping during daytime, it can help a person sleep easier at night.
