Johor Darul Ta'zim FC (JDT) owner HRH Major General Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim previously vowed to improve the Southern Tigers squad ahead of the 2019 season and the club appears to have done just that with quality new signings. [1/6]

New foreign player signings Mauricio dos Santos Nascimento, Aaron Niguez and Diogo Luis Santo have got the club buzzing because of the character and experience the trio add to JDT.

The 30-year-old Mauricio will marshall the backline and can draw experience - including UEFA Champions League exposure - from his time with Palmeiras, Sporting Lisbon, Lazio and Spartak Moscow.

Niguez, a product of the Valencia academy like Natxo Insa, adds creativity in the middle. Diogo, meanwhile,needs no further introduction after his exploits in Thailand over the past four seasons, in which he picked up two Golden Boot awards and scored over a hundred goals.

Local teenage sensation Akhyar Rashid is the other new signing that will add freshness and excitement. JDT also made a similar move for Safawi Rasid a couple of years ago, and now at 21 years old, Safawi's career has propelled its way to the top.

The new signings are part of efforts to bolster the squad ahead of their maiden AFC Champions League appearance in 2019.
