According to a report by Berita Harian, Satiananthan said the idea of many Harimau Malaya players playing and training together would enable them to have a better understanding when playing for Malaysia.

Another coach, E. Elavarasan was also reported saying national team coach Tan Cheng Hoe can spend less time on gelling the squad and allocate more time on other important aspects such as tactics and strategies.

"JDT's concept of assembling all the best local players in one team is something that Selangor practiced in the past. When the players are used to playing together, they can also emerge stronger when there is international duty with the national team," said Satiananthan.

"Previously in the 1980s, almost 80% of Harimau Malaya's strength came from Selangor. I was playing for Negeri Sembilan and when called to the national team, we didn't take long to find compatibility.

"So I see that JDT are helping the national team prepare and Cheng Hoe is surely happy with these developments," he said.

Elavarasan, meanwhile, said: "For me, we should take the positives. When JDT does this, it indirectly helps Cheng Hoe in preparing the national team."

"We know that the FIFA international calendar is not lengthy and for 1-2 weeks only.

So when many players are from JDT, the national coach does not need to spend too much time in finding the compatability of the players, but can instead prepare the players on the tactics and match strategies."
