Once a pivotal figure for Johor Darul Ta'zim FC (FC), Luciano Figueroa is learning the ropes on the other side of the fence being the manager and head coach of the Southern Tigers. [1/8]

Figueroa, called 'Lucho' by everyone part of the JDT Family, was key in JDT's first of five straight Malaysia Super League titles in 2014 and the historic 2015 AFC Cup that gave him cult status. [2/8]

JOHOR Southern Tigers speaks with Figueroa regarding his new roles and how much of a difference that has made. [3/8]

"The biggest difference is that I'm not playing anymore. Now I have to plan trainings, see how other teams play, deciding how we are going to play and being closer to the players by taking a bigger interest in them," said Figueroa. [4/8]

"There is a bit more of stress on gamedays compared to being a player because as a player, all you think is what you have to do inside the field. [5/8]

But as a manager, you never stop thinking and have to explain to the players what you want them to do in games. Sometimes they get it good, sometimes things pan out differently." [6/8]

Figueroa retired after the 2015 season before returning to the club as an ambassador the following year. He came out of retirement in 2018 and played till May, where he retired once more. Figueroa says that brief return helped his transition from being a player to coach. [7/8]

"I'm done playing. I started to play again this year and that was the best thing to help me understand that I need to move on and do more than being a player," said Figueroa. [8/8]
