Several local news outlets reported on the Southern Tigers' future investment of RM1.4 million on sports science, HRH Tunku Ismail's hopes for the AFC Champions League & the Crown Prince of Johor's views on new Brazilian centre-back Mauricio dos Santos Nascimento.

HRH Tunku Ismail was also reported speaking highly of Mauricio's former clubs such as Lazio, Spartak Moscow and Sporting Lisbon, and said JDT have identified a few more signings to beef up the 2019 squad.
