Allah Peliharakan Sultan.

INTERESTING FACTS | HISTORY OF JOHOR | JOHOR ROYAL FAMILY'S INVOLVEMENT IN THE MILITARY WORLD
The Johor Royal Family's involvement in the military world is not something out of the ordinary. Leading and protecting the state's sovereignty is a responsibility upheld for the people's sake.
Temenggong Daing Ibrahim was awarded a special sword by the British government for the discipline, dedication and commitment in combating piracy in not only Johor and Singapore waters but also in Pahang and Terengganu.
Sultan Sir Abu Bakar also inherited the qualities of His Majesty's father and coordinated security teams, later founding and leading the Johor Military Forces (JMF) in 1886, 47 years before the Royal Malay Regiment was founded.
Sultan Sir Ibrahim, meanwhile, was dedicated and led various counter-attacks with the JMF against enemies. His Majesty wanted the Johor Civil Force (JCS) to be trained in basic military to improve discipline within the administration. That personality was also inherited by Sultan Sir Ismail when His Majesty became the JMF commander-in-chief.
Such was Sultan Iskandar's interest in the Malaysian special service force (Komando), which was inherited from His Majesty's father and elders, that His Majesty became the colonel-in-chief of the Malaysian Army's Grup Gerak Khas (GGK). His Majesty was also named an honorary colonel of Indonesia's Commando Special Forces (KOPASSUS).
As for HM Sultan Ibrahim, His Majesty underwent training at the United States Army's training centre in Fort Benning and then in the American Special Forces field in Fort Bragg and was recognised as a member of the United States Navy SEALs and the KOPASSUS in Indonesia.
HRH Major General Tunku Ismail continued the Johor Royal Family's deep interest as he underwent training in the Malaysian Armed Forces commando unit after training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA). His Royal Highness achieved the highest honour of being picked to lead the 61st Cavalry Regiment of the Indian Army during the country's independence parade. Allah Peliharakan Sultan.
